Volunteering For The PNJGA

Volunteers are paramount in the success of Pacific Northwest Junior Golf Programs.  Adult supervision is necessary to oversee junior golfers while they play on the course, hit balls on the range during breaks.  Volunteer are not asked to provide any golf instruction, but rather enforce the PNJGA policies set for the safety of its participants.  Its helpful understanding the game of golf; however it’s the genuine interest and concern for our participants’ well being and the ability to provide for them a safe, fun atmosphere in which to learn about this game of golf, its rules & etiquette.  That is what we are looking for in a volunteer.  Please consider responsible teenagers and/or yourself for the PNJGA Volunteer Staff.

F.O.R.E.

Programs hosted by the PNJGA are designed around the F.O.R.E. basic concepts. They are structured to be Fun, Organized, Responsible and Educational.  Whenever a program is designed, we ask ourselves, is it:

Fun:
All programs are developed to be fun and entertaining, so students will enjoy their experience on the golf course.

Organized:
Many of our programs offer instruction and playing opportunities. All of our programs have detailed outlines. Every program is designed to advance the students to one of our next levels.

Responsible:
Safety is our number one concern as we take the responsibility of your child’s well being very seriously. Whether it’s swinging clubs, flying golf balls, or first day jitters, our staff are experienced and well prepared to handle most situations. All staff and volunteers are pre-screened through the Washington State Patrol W.A.T.C.H. program.

Educational:
Our instructional programs allow the students to learn various golf and life skills through fun activities and drills.

PNJGA Access Fund

Pacific Northwest Junior Golf is a non-profit 501(c3) organization committed to the future of golf. In our efforts to provide more junior golf opportunities, we’ve established the PNJGA Access Fund. Monies raised through our fundraising efforts will supplement scholarship needs and pay for individuals who otherwise couldn’t afford to participate in our programs.  Contributions will fund equipment purchases, capital improvement projects and help keep costs down for existing and future programs. Donations of cash or goods and services are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. If you or someone you know is interested in making a contribution to our organization Or if you or someone you know is a candidate for our scholarship program, please contact me – chad@pnjga.com.

Summer Leagues

The PNJGA is happy to announce a new format for 2008!   The Summer League is competitive play for golfers, 17 & under.  PNJGA Membership is not required to participate.  We hope to attract many young golfers who are looking for more playing opportunities in the summer.  Format is Stableford (points).  In this competition, players accumulate points on each hole based on the score they make.  The lower the score, the higher the points awarded.  This is good format because after a Triple Bogey, no further points can be awarded for that hole.  Consequently, the player can pick up and move onto the next hole.  At the end of each round, points are totaled by the administrative staff and recorded to the players league standings.  In each 5-week session, the best 3 of 5 showings will be accumulated to determine League (session) winners.  All results from each site and the players standing will be posted nightly on the League’s Website – (It’s not ready yet, but it’ll be linked to the pnjga.com site) Age divisions will be created based on enrollment numbers.  A complete schedule of course sites, dates, League rules, group pairings and tee times will be posted in June, approximately 2 weeks before the first matches.  All participants will be contacted via email.

  • Site:                 Expected sites include Carnation, Mt Si, Snoqualmie Falls, Twin Rivers, Tall Chief and/or Cascade Golf Courses.  A detailed schedule will be posted soon.

  • Ages:               There are no age restrictions at this time.  However, participants are expected to demonstrate an appropriate level of maturity & ability.  Participants must be able to play & compete fairly, while displaying appropriate golf course etiquette and an understanding of the rules of golf.

  • Session #1:      6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22 (5-Week League)

  • Session #2:      7/29, 8/5, 8/12, 8/19, 8/26 (5-Week League)

  • Cost:                League Fee is $25.  Cost for each 5-week session is $125 for the 9-hole league & $175 for the 18-hole league.

  • When:              Mondays – start times are expected to be set at approximately 1-2pm

  • Sign Up:           Sign up using the PNJGA Enrollment form & payment options.  Participants will be notified approximately 2-weeks prior to our first match.  Further information as to what the playing schedule is and how pairings are to be determined will be posted early June.

Tuesday Night Family Scrambles:

Family Nights are back – starting June 24!  Our Family Scramble nights @ Carnation are a great opportunity for family and friends of all ages to play golf together as a team.  The format is Fun!  More details to come later – plan on Tuesday Nights with the Family @ Carnation.  Note:  A Scramble format is a golf game where the players on a team (2-4 players) take turns hitting their ball from the same location and then selecting the best shot.  Continue like this until the ball is holed... and a “Team Score” is recorded for that hole.  J  No fees are established for this league yet & no payment is required.  If you are interested in participating, check the box on the registration – we’ll see who’s planning on playing.  A bulletin will go out in June when we are preparing to start.

PNJGA Summer Finale Tournament & BBQ

The PNJGA will wrap up its summer programs on Thursday, August 28!  In the past, this event was scheduled on the last Monday of the summer but has now been moved to 8/28.  Everyone who participates in PNJGA programs is encouraged to sign up and attend this event.  Advance level players and league golfers will compete in an 18-hole golf tournament.  Intermediate level participants will see a 9-hole event, divisions established by age and/or gender.  Our beginning level participants will also see a 9-hole, 5-hole or 3-hole competition based on ages and genders.  Everyone will have a chance to play & compete!  Afterwards, members, family, friends and staff are all welcome to join us for the annual BBQ, Raffle & Awards Banquet, scheduled for approximately 5pm that evening.  Pre-Registration is required and we’ve even listed it as an option on the enrollment form.  Individuals will have the opportunity to sign up for the Finale and Banquet throughout the summer so plan on attending if you can.
